Strife's second album is worth a listen but it does lack the hooks and variety of the first album "Rush". I do prefer the production on Back to Thunder, which is more direct, punchy and rocky. A fine band who excelled on stage - I saw them as support to the Baker Gurvitz Army in the '70s and they certainly gave BGA a run for their money/5(6).

The best track on the album is closes album, title track ''Written'' a great, minute heavy-progressive killer! British power trio Strife debuted with 's Rush, a quirky, progressive-tinged hard rocker that could draw some stoned comparisons to early Budgie and Hawkwind.

The album has some strong material, and it is not all heavy rock by any means. Strife always had melody and musicality amongst the riffing. I deducted one star for the inappropriate production (that was mentioned in reviews at the time) which softens the band's sound too much and takes away the urgent quality and drive of their live sound/5(8).
